The School of Chemistry and Physics and the National Institute for Theoretical Physics (NiTheP) invite candidates to apply for the post of Research Scientist to work in the field of the theory of open quantum systems. The School and NITheP offer a vibrant educational and research environment in Theoretical Physics and have many well established national and international collaborative research links.
The incumbent is expected to have expertise in the mathematical physics of Markovian and non-Markovian processes. S/he will maintain and lead a vigorous research programme in Theoretical Physics in general and specifically in the Theory of Open Quantum Systems. S/he will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level and supervise postgraduate students. The incumbent will be required to actively participate in NITHeP’s capacity building programmes.
The incumbent will report to the Deputy-Director of NITheP (KZN).
