The Department of University Service Facility for Transmission Electron Microscopy (USTEM) has a vacancy for a Senior Scientist (all genders), expected to start in October 2023 (40 hours per week, limited for 2 years, with an option for permanent employment) with the following responsibilities.

Tasks:
- Independent research work in the field of electron microscopy
- Set-up and realization of experiments in the field of quantum electron microscopy
- Set-up and realization of experiments in the field of ultra-fast electron microscopy
- Independent teaching of courses and holding of examinations as well as supervision of students
- The ability to develop methods, concepts, as well as their realization and evaluation and the willingness to manage projects or working groups
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures of the research division and the faculty

Your profile:
- Completion of an appropriate doctorate in the field of physics or equivalent university studies
- Knowledge of scientific work as well as excellent specialist knowledge in electron microscopy and/or in-depth knowledge of quantum optics
- Interdisciplinary work
- Experience in teaching and publication activities as well as interest and pleasure in research and work/support with students
- Organisational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
- Excellent knowledge of English, and preferably (not required) good knowledge of German
Team competences
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills related to the repair and customization of advanced TEM systems is highly desirable.
