Two Fully Funded PhD Positions in Quantum Information and Thermodynamics, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic.

The primary objective is to develop a novel method for quantum tomography, with opportunities to pursue side projects in quantum thermodynamics.

The ideal applicant should have strong analytical or programming skills and an interest in working at the intersection of mathematics and physics with a focus on quantum technology. A creative mind, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and an interest in or knowledge of experimental platforms (such as trapped ions, photonic systems, etc.) are considered a plus.

Stipend:

35,000–40,000 CZK per month (tax-exempt, equivalent to the average Czech net salary, providing a comfortable standard of living), plus an annual travel budget of approximately 2,400 EUR.

The Quantum Information and Thermodynamics group will comprise three PostDocs and two PhD students. Its research topics will cover various subfields of Quantum Information and Thermodynamics, including quantum tomography, many-body physics, isolated quantum systems, the concept of entropy, thermalization, entanglement, and metrology. The group leader brings extensive international experience from the UK and Austria (PhD), the USA (PostDoc), and South Korea (Team Leader) and offers a wide range of international connections and collaborative opportunities.
