Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science

Short name:

QuICS

Research type:

The Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science (QuICS) is a research partnership between the University of Maryland (UMD) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), with the support and participation of the Research Directorate of the National Security Agency/Central Security Service.

Located at the University of Maryland just outside of Washington, D.C., the center advances research and education in quantum computer science and quantum information theory, aiming to understand and advance the power of quantum systems to process information.

Ongoing projects at QuICS include theoretical and experimental research on quantum algorithms, quantum complexity theory, quantum communication, quantum key distribution, post-quantum cryptography, and more.
