Quantum Information and Inference (QI2) group

Short name:

QI^2-lab

Research type:

Within the QI2-lab we primarily work on quantum metrology and sensing problems. We develop fundamental theory for quantum estimation tasks in order to focus on their optical implementations, with particular interest in atomic-ensemble and optomechanical quantum sensors. We also seek novel solutions in quantum information, cryptography and communication, especially exploring the device-independent framework. In parallel, we work on software for quantum experiments: our aim is to create an open-source library that will encompass various “quantum-tailored” statistical inference and signal processing tools (such as filtering, compressive sampling and machine learning), so that they can be directly implemented in quantum control and sensing experiments that involve, e.g., continuous-time measurements and/or feedback control protocols.
