The “Quantum Transport and Electronic Structure Theory Unit” at "Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology" studies different aspects of quantum transport through nanostructures and nanostructured materials, ranging from charge to heat transport, as well as excited states and their dynamics. We typically use first-principles electronic structure theory to construct material-specific models and different techniques of many-body theory such as Keldysh nonequilibrium Green’s functions or many-body perturbation theory to describe the complex physical behavior. Many projects are carried out together with international partners, involving both experimental and theoretical colleagues.
