Our team, Quantum algorithms and software at VTT, is on a mission to explore near-term quantum applications and develop cutting-edge software solutions. We actively contribute to the development of VTT's quantum computers, maintaining the software stack for seamless execution, and providing access to academic and commercial entities. Our research spans topics such as error mitigation, quantum measurements, quantum machine learning, quantum finance, and quantum chemistry.

in theoretical physics with quantum non-Gaussian states of bosonic systems (for example, trapped atoms and ions, cavity and wave-guide QED, superconducting circuits, mechanical oscillators, pulsed light, etc.).
Wir suchen Sie zur Unterstützung in der Abteilung „Theoretische Quantenphysik“ im Projekt R‑QIP. In diesem Projekt untersuchen wir Fehlerquellen in Quantenprozessoren und entwickeln entsprechende Gegenmaßnahmen. Unterstützen Sie das Projekt, indem Sie quantenphysikalische Systeme modellieren und Möglichkeiten für die Implementierung von Quantenfehlerkorrekturmethoden untersuchen. Als Teil unseres Teams erbringen Sie interdisziplinär angelegte Querschnittsleistungen für die anderen Abteilungen des Instituts und arbeiten eng mit Partnern aus der Industrie zusammen. In the department of Theoretical Quantum Physics, we are looking for a research associate in the group "Quantum Simulations and Applications" to explore the potential of quantum computers for highly relevant and critical application problems in mobility. In the QCMobility project, you will investigate quantum computing applications for the domains of air transport, road transport, rail transport, maritime transport and intermodal transport in an interdisciplinary cooperation between industrial partners and DLR institutes. You will develop customised quantum algorithms and demonstration problems and implement them on the quantum computing hardware at the DLR Innovation Centres in Ulm and Hamburg. Take on a central role in this highly relevant project in cooperation with the project partners involved. The aim of the DLR Institute of Quantum Technologies in Ulm is to develop precision instruments for space applications based on quantum technologies and, in close cooperation with industry, mature them into prototypes. It thus provides a bridge between fundamental research and industry. Together with the DLR-Institute for Satellite Geodesy and Inertial Sensing in Hanover and the Galileo Competence Center in Oberpfaffenhofen, the institute in Ulm plays a pioneering role in these fields of research and application. The research of the four core departments Quantum Metrology, Quantum Information and Communication, Quantum Nanophysics, and Quantum Control of Charged Matter Waves is complemented by support from three cross-sectional departments of Quantum Engineering, Integration of Micro- and Nanosystems, and Theoretical Quantum Physics. The institute works in an interdisciplinary way, where fundamental theoretical research and experimental tests meets engineering.
We are looking for you for a position in the department "Quantum Metrology". Be part of our team that is bringing the first optical clock to the ISS space station within the COMPASSO project, demonstrating technologies for future generations of the European satellite navigation system Galileo in space. Here you will contribute to the development of an optical frequency reference based on Doppler-free spectroscopy of molecular iodine, which is being developed under the leadership of the DLR Institute for Quantum Technologies in collaboration with other DLR institutes, research institutes, universities and the space industry. You will bring in your expertise to the creation of the design, the prototype phase and the activities during assembly-integration and verification. You will be actively involved in all stages of the process and contribute to the implementation of the project.
