A fully funded PhD studentship is available in the area of Quantum Systems Engineering for Enabling Emerging Technologies. The rapidly developing field of quantum technologies looks set to have a transformative impact on core enabling technologies from sensors to communications. There is a need for fundamental research that will enable the shift from laboratory devices and prototypes into manufacture and deployment. The aim of this project is to investigate the suitability of systems engineering methodologies to the development of reliable quantum devices.

Application deadline:

Marie Curie Research Fellow (PhD position)
University of Nottingham, School of Physics and Astronomy
Salary: From £36,929 per annum
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….............
Applications are invited for the above post to work with Prof Peter Krüger in the framework of a European funded project at the University of Nottingham. The successful candidates will register for a 3 year PhD at the School of Physics and Astronomy within the Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN): Future Atomic Clock Technology (FACT).

Application deadline:

Applications from Indian nationals are invited for the following positions (initially for 1 year) under the project “Topology, quantum computation and spintronics with Dirac materials” in the School of Physical Sciences, NISER, Bhubaneswar, India funded by Dept. of Science and Technology, DST-Nanomisssion, Govt. of India.

Application deadline:

Sunday, August 31, 2014

One Ph.D. position is available in the theoretical quantum optics group at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark. The research of the group focuses on the implementation of quantum information processing in a wide range of systems, ranging from quantum optical systems such as atoms and photons to solid state systems. The research especially focuses on coherent interfaces between light and matter. In addition we have a smaller program on ultra cold atoms.

We are pleased to announce the availability of a PhD position in the group of Ultracold Mixtures at the University of Nottingham to be filled asap. We have recently created a large BEC of lithium-2 molecules and are currently working on adding cesium atoms and the creation of an additional cesium BEC. LiCs molecules are extremely interesting candidates for the study of groundstate molecules since these molecules have the largest dipole moment among all available alkali-combinations.

Application deadline:

Monday, July 14, 2014

Group: AtomChip Laboratory (www.bgu.ac.il/atomchip)

The position (experiment and/or theory) is in the field of quantum optics, cold atoms, and atom spectroscopy.

Applicants should have extensive experience in atomic physics and ultra-cold atoms. Very competitive salaries are available, including generous re-location packages.
