Description

Nu Quantum is looking to fund a 3-6 month long internship starting during summer 2021. The internships are full-time, paid, and based in Cambridge where possible.

Ideal candidates are either well into their PhDs, or recently finished. The projects will be carried out at the Nu Quantum headquarters and optics lab in Cambridge, collaboratively with the team which is now 15-strong.

The aim of the internship will look into Linear optical quantum computing (LOQC) architectures and Boson Sampling models and explore how performance metrics of single-photon sources and single-photon detectors affect the overall fidelity of the computation processes, as well as the overall architecture of the system.

This work will help the technical and product teams better understand the advantages and disadvantages of sources and detectors for several quantum information applications.

About us: What we do at Nu Quantum

Illuminating the quantum revolution.

At Nu Quantum we make quantum devices which can emit and detect single-photons. Our devices underpin those quantum systems which make single photons carry quantum information or interact in sophisticated ways, to arrive at a new era of communications, simulation, computing, sensing and metrology. By combining novel materials and semiconductor technology, the Nu Quantum components achieve new capabilities and groundbreaking enhanced performance.

History of Nu Quantum

Nu Quantum was founded in late 2018 to commercialise cutting-edge research spun out of the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. The company is backed by a syndicate of world-class investors led by Amadeus Capital Partners, and has been awarded several multi-million government projects. Nu Quantum is now growing a world-class multi-disciplinary team in Cambridge, where they are building their headquarters and state-of-the-art labs, and plan to launch their first quantum product in 2021.
