Project Description:
The Prins lab, in collaboration with the group of Carlos Antón Solanas (https://www.antonsolanaslab.com) is offering a fully funded 4-year PhD-positions at the Condensed Matter Physics Center of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). The position is offered in the scope of the ERC-CoG EnVision project, focused on enabling controlled energy transport in semiconductors using a range of state-of-the-art time resolved microscopy techniques.
The offered PhD position will focus on the ultrafast transport of polaritonic states in perovskites, conforming a quantum fluid of light as a result of the strong light-matter coupling. Polaritons offer unique opportunities for encoding in multiple degrees of freedom (such as energy and polarization), and on-demand control of light propagation harnessing non-linear polariton interactions.
Join Us in Shaping the Future:
The position will be for 4 years under Spanish labor law with extensive social benefits such as free universal healthcare. Gross salary is fixed at 2020 EUR per month with 12 annual payments. Contracts include 5 weeks of holidays per year. Earliest starting date of the contract would the April 1st 2024, but later dates can be negotiated.
What we are looking for:
To strengthen our efforts into the exploration of energy transport phenomena in nanomaterials, we are looking for highly motivated experimentalists with a background in Physics, Nanoscience, or related Engineering fields. We value creativity and ambition, encourage collaboration, and appreciate attention for detail. Some experience with quantum physics, or spectroscopy is beneficial.
As young teams, we offer a dynamic and multidisciplinary work environment at the forefront of nanoscience. Research tasks include ultrafast spectroscopy, interferometry, programming and modelling. Aside from broad training in state-of-the-art spectroscopic measurements, careful attention will be given to strengthen management and communication skills. You will work in an international environment, interacting intensively with our various collaborators and presenting your work at specialized conferences.
Applications to be sent to ferry.prins@uam.es and carlos.anton@uam.es (recent cv, motivation letter explaining your interest for the jobs, and two potential referees to be contacted). The position will remain open until filled.
