It is a pleasure to announce the fourth edition of our summer school Solstice of Foundations! It will take place at the University of Zurich, 16-20 June 2025.

We encourage you to send your PhD and Masters students to the school - they will return with a consolidated understanding of quantum foundations and an academic network of peers interested in the same topics.

Both in-person and online participation are possible; in-person participation is encouraged.

Application deadline:

Thursday, February 29, 2024

We are inviting application for a PhD position in Quantum Matterwave Optics.

The Cretan Matter Waves Group on Crete is one of the leading European Groups in Atomtronics and Matterwave Optics. We have recently built the first fully coherent waveguide for matterwaves, which we published in Nature. In this system, we used a novel gravito-magnetic matte wave lens to demonstrate delta-kick cooling down to a temperature of a few piko-Kelvins.

You will work on some of the most exciting and advanced experiments on quantum mechanics and ultra-cold atoms anywhere.
You will be part of an international, dedicated, and closely-knit team of young scientists.
You will receive excellent training. You will attend dedicated EU training schools. You will be working closely with some of the leaders in the field.
You will have the opportunity of placements in high-tech quantum companiesl
Last, but not least Crete is a wonderful island, a beautiful place to live.

There is an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to work at the QuSys Group at Trinity College Dublin starting around October 2020 with some flexibility in the precise date. The QuSys group is a young, dynamic and international group lead by Prof. John Goold. The groups interests are diverse ranging from thermodynamics of quantum systems and quantum transport in non equilibrium steady states (NESS) to quantum information and many-body physics. The position is initially for 2 years and can be extended further.

Application deadline:

Saturday, June 30, 2018

We have an opening for two 27-month Ph. D. student positions in foundations of quantum mechanics / quantum information theory at the University of Gdańsk, Poland with starting date 1st October 2018.

The position will be financed under the project “Quantum correlations – from few to many particles” founded by the Polish National Science Center under BEETHOVEN programme.

Scope of research for the project include:

PhD Project to implement spin qubits based on silicon-germanium structures

Center for Quantum Devices is offering a PhD scholarship commencing December 1. or as soon as possible thereafter.

The last year has seen tremendous advances in fabricating spin qubit devices from group IV semiconductors. This PhD project will investigate spin qubits realized in natural and isotopically purified silicon-germanium heterostructures. The objective is to create ultra-coherent qubit devices that can be controlled, coupled, and read out in a scalable geometry.
