  • The workshop aims at bringing together leading experimentalists and theorists working on collective phenomena in cold atoms, nonlinear optics, and circuit quantum electrodynamics. These phenomena stem from the interplay between quantum many-body interactions, topological order, as well as with dissipation and drives. As such, the envisioned topics span across Non-Equilibrium Phenomena, Statistical Physics, and Quantum Information.

PhD Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join us in developing quantum memories based on alkali atomic gases. The project will involve testing various protocols to optimize memory performance, focusing on efficiency, photon storage time, capacity, and fidelity. The expected duration of the project is 5 years.

At the Chair of Quantum Information Systems (https://qis.rwth-aachen.de/) at RWTH Aachen, Germany, we have several phd and postdoc positions available in the area of quantum formal verification, quantum programs, quantum crypto, connected to the ERC project "Certified Quantum Security" (https://kodu.ut.ee/~unruh/cerqus/).

In particular, there are the following topics, but we accept phd and postdoc applications for other topics if they fit into the general direction of our group.

For the newly established research group on quantum cryptography led by Ramona Wolf at the University of Siegen (Germany), we are looking for a motivated PhD student or Postdoc. Possible research topics include:

  • Security proof techniques for quantum key distribution, in particular those related to quantum steering
  • Quantum random number generation
  • Entropic uncertainty relations and their use in QKD
  • Quantum foundations

We are looking for candidates to fill an experimental PhD or postdoc position at the Quantum hacking lab led by Vadim Makarov at Vigo quantum communication center. We need candidates with background in electrical and optical engineering, applied physics, electronics, optics, or telecommunications. A successful applicant will be employed full-time at the University of Vigo, Spain.

The study of quantum coherent dynamics is currently one of the most active and exciting areas in physics. It holds the promise for the development of new technologies (quantum computing, quantum metrology,...) and, at the same time, has already delivered insights into the foundations of quantum mechanics. Its fast moving pace and new approach has attracted many young researchers, and summer schools - at which leading experts share their knowledge and directly interact with the participants - have become an integral part of the community.

We are looking to fill a PhD position in the Hybrid Quantum Systems group led by Carlos Gonzalez-Ballestero at the Vienna University of Technology. We search a motivated candidate with strong analytical skills to develop theoretical work on levitated quantum optomechanics in close collaboration with experiments.
