Ph.D. POSITION
We are looking for two talented and highly skilled students to work toward their PhD degree on signal processing of quantum-enhanced sensors and validate the same with experimental data in the Classical and Quantum Signal Processing (CAQ-SP) Group at Carleton University led by Prof. Sreeraman Rajan.
The research will be focused on:
• Quantum-enhanced radar and lidar performance prediction
• Signal processing for quantum sensors
• Classical and quantum machine learning for detection and identification
The Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology (VCQ) is a joint collaboration initiative, which currently involves about 25 research groups based at four leading research institutions in and around Vienna. The aim of the VCQ is to advance modern quantum science and technology based on a broad and multidisciplinary research agenda. The topics addressed within VCQ range from the foundations of quantum mechanics to complex quantum optical and many-body effects and their application for emerging quantum technologies.
The Mathematical Principles of Information and Communication Group (https://www.unav.edu/web/departamento-de-ingenieria-biomedica-yciencias/... ) at the Tecnun-School of Engineering (University of Navarra, Donostia/San Sebastian, Spain) has a PhD position available within the fields of quantum computing and quantum error correction. The PhD position is located at the Ibaeta Campus, affiliated to the Department of Bioengineering and Basic Sciences, for a period of 3 years with the possibility of extensions based on specific circumstances. The position is scheduled to start in 2024 and will be conducted under the supervision of researchers Dr. Josu Etxezarreta from Tecnun and Dr. Rubén M. Otxoa from Hitachi-Cambridge Laboratory.

In a world where quantum technology is shaping the future of information technology, we find ourselves at the threshold of a groundbreaking era in communication. Quantum communications harness the unique properties of photons and the optical communication tools developed over the years, enabling us to distribute quantum coherence and secure information to distant recipients, thus paving the way for the quantum internet of tomorrow.

Quantum communications are revolutionising the way we transmit information and connect remote parties. Leveraging on the quantum properties of photons and on the tools developed for optical communications, it is now possible to create a quantum network that distributes confidential information to distant users with the highest level of security and creates strong quantum correlations - or entanglement - at its nodes, thus shaping the future quantum internet.
