As quantum information and computation research continues to develop, we will see increasing interest in adapting the philosophy of quantum computing, information theory and ideology into other, more traditional aspects of computational research. Although the hardware technology to realize quantum computing still yet to be materialized, research about the theoretical aspects of quantum computing and its ideology has enjoyed some success with artificial and computational intelligence.
Lecturer in Mathematics
Salary is in the range £39,146 to £46,300 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
The Department of Mathematics is recruiting a lecturer to further strengthen its quantum dynamics group. We are looking in particular for applicants who work in quantum information theory, but we will give serious consideration to all applicants who will be able to interact with members of the quantum dynamics group. The group's research interests include atomic theory, quantum chaos and quantum graphs, as well as different aspects of quantum information.

The Advanced Technology Institute at the University of Surrey consists of approximately 50 researchers working on topics including III-V and silicon based light emitters and detectors, light-matter interaction in microstructured photonic materials, quantum computing with superconducting qubits, spintronics, and energy efficient photonic devices. The institute benefits from strong interaction between experimental and theoretical activities.
The quantum walk is regarded as the quantum counterpart of the classical random walk. The quantum walk forms two parts: the discrete and the continuous. The walk is intensely investigated in the literature due to its connection with quantum computing, for example in the design of algorithms. The time evolution of the quantum walk can either be continuous or discrete. The connection between the discrete and continuous time quantum walk has been established. Experiments are being designed and in some cases already performed to implement the quantum walk.
The call for paper and registration are now extended and special fees for students are now available for The Time Machine Factory Conference, October 14th - 19th 2012, Turin, Italy.
The Scientific Organizing Committee encourage to contribute through oral and poster presentations.
The third International Iran Conference on Quantum Information (IICQI-12) will be held in Tehran, Iran, 8-12 September 2012. The conference will cover latest developments in theoretical and experimental quantum information science, feature talks by leading international researchers, and provide the opportunity for research discussions and collaborations between international and Iranian quantum information researchers. The conference is open to all participants regardless of nationality, gender, etc. but subject to the laws of Iran.
Time: 2pm British Summer Time
