PhD research studentship in Controlled Quantum Dynamics and Circuit QED
Department of Physics, University of Surrey
The Advanced Technology Institute at the University of Surrey consists of approximately 50 researchers working on topics including III-V and silicon based light emitters and detectors, light-matter interaction in microstructured photonic materials, quantum computing with superconducting qubits, spintronics, and energy efficient photonic devices. The institute benefits from strong interaction between experimental and theoretical activities.

The quantum walk is regarded as the quantum counterpart of the classical random walk. The quantum walk forms two parts: the discrete and the continuous. The walk is intensely investigated in the literature due to its connection with quantum computing, for example in the design of algorithms. The time evolution of the quantum walk can either be continuous or discrete. The connection between the discrete and continuous time quantum walk has been established. Experiments are being designed and in some cases already performed to implement the quantum walk.
The call for paper and registration are now extended and special fees for students are now available for The Time Machine Factory Conference, October 14th - 19th 2012, Turin, Italy.
The Scientific Organizing Committee encourage to contribute through oral and poster presentations.
