FAPESQ-PB, SECTIES-PB, CNPq, and CAPES have opened Call No. 23/2026, PROFIX-PB, for the recruitment of PhD-level researchers in Paraíba, Brazil.
The call includes 22 positions for Line 2, linked to CIQUANTA-PB, the International Center for Quantum Computing and Quantum Technologies of Paraíba.
The positions are aimed at researchers working in quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum information, quantum technologies, physics, computing, mathematics, electrical engineering, and related areas.

Eligibility
Applicants must hold a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computing, Mathematics, or a related field. They must submit the proposal as project coordinator, have an updated Lattes CV, show relevant scientific or technological production, and be available for 40 hours per week of in-person work.
Applicants cannot hold an employment relationship, accumulate another fellowship, be retired, or submit more than one proposal under this call.
Foreign applicants may apply, but selected candidates must prove regular migration status in Brazil before implementation.
Institutional requirements
The proposal must be linked to an eligible institution in Paraíba with a CAPES-recognized graduate programme.
Applicants must provide:
- A commitment letter from a graduate programme and institution in Paraíba.
- A formal approval letter from the CIQUANTA-PB Management Committee.
The CIQUANTA-PB approval letter must confirm that the project is aligned with the centre’s strategic objectives in quantum science, technology, innovation, training, and cooperation.
Project requirements
The project may be written in Portuguese, English, or Spanish. It must present the research problem, objectives, methodology, expected results, budget, schedule, collaborations, and available infrastructure.
Priority will be given to proposals aligned with strategic areas such as quantum technologies, frontier physics, information technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, engineering, materials physics, and semiconductors.
Selection
Applications will be evaluated through curriculum analysis, technical-scientific review of the project, prioritization by the Management Committee, and technical analysis by CNPq.
Evaluation criteria include scientific merit, originality, feasibility, strategic alignment, budget coherence, expected impact, cooperation, and contribution to graduate training.
