The theory group at Forschungszentrum Juelich and RWTH Aachen are looking for highly motivated candidates to fill a fully-funded Ph.D. position.
It is a fully-funded Ph.D. position focusing on theoretical aspects of nonequilibrium thermodynamics using quantum information theory. Dr. Ansari will supervise the projects and collaborate with leading experimental groups.

Our research Team focuses on the development of the next generation atomic quantum sensors. We have developed an atomic portable gravimeter, all optical atomic magnetometer and other sensors. Our next challenge is to progress this technology/research further and with clear goals to provide solutions ranging from application in navigation, inertial sensing to monitoring gravity for applications in geology. The projects are on the junction between industry and academic research and with this can be quite exciting and demanding as well.

We are seeking a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher to work in the field of quantum information theory in the group led by prof. R. Augusiak (http://raugusiak.weebly.com/). This position will be based at the Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (Poland).

Salary: Rs. 25000/- per month.

Duration: Flexible, can be between 3 months and 1 year.

Mode: online/ hybrid (in-person+online), depending on the covid situation.

Position: Quantum Software Engineer, in the Centre for Quantum Engineering, Research and Education (CQuERE), TCG CREST, Kolkata.

Salary: Rs. 60000/- per month.

Duration: 2 years.

Mode: online/ hybrid (in-person+online), depending on the covid situation.

Eligibility: BE/BTech (preferably Engineering Physics or Computer Science, but interested candidates from other branches of engineering can also apply)/MSc (preferably Physics, Chemistry, or Computer Science, but interested candidates from other branches can also apply).

Applicants are invited to join the condensed matter theory group to explore the use of near-term quantum computers in the study of quantum many-body physics.

The theory group at Forschungszentrum Juelich is looking for highly motivated candidates to fill a fully-funded Ph.D. position.
It is a fully-funded Ph.D. position focusing on theoretical aspects of large-scale quantum processors using machine learning. Dr. Ansari will supervise the projects and may involve collaborations with leading experimental groups.

Abstract:
Surface codes are quantum error-correcting codes normally defined on 2D arrays of qubits. During the lecture, a new surface code design will be introduced, based on the fact that the severity of bit-flip and phase flip errors in the physical quantum systems is asymmetric. For the proposed surface code design for asymmetric error channels, results of several experiments will be presented, utilizing the presence of various degrees of asymmetry of Pauli X, Y , and Z errors in a depolarisation channel.
