The University of Warsaw, Faculty of Physics, seeks to fill nine research positions supported by the project Photonic implementations of quantum-enhanced technologies starting on 1 January 2010. The project, funded under the TEAM programme operated by the Foundation for Polish Science, will focus on controlling quantum phenomena in photonic systems to enable new modes of information processing and communication. Three tightly intertwined themes of the project are light-matter interfaces, quantum-enhanced protocols in realistic environments, and simulations of light-matter interactions.

2010 Postdoc Recruitment

Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics invites applications for postdoctoral positions in the areas of quantum gravity, string theory, quantum information, cosmology, quantum foundations and particle physics. We will consider applications in all of these areas. Exceptional applicants in related areas, such as condensed matter physics, are encouraged to apply. The postdoctoral positions are normally for a period of three years. Outstanding candidates may also be considered for a senior postdoctoral position with a five-year term.

The Department of Applied Mathematics at H.I.T. – Holon Institute of Technology (Holon, Israel) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Mathematical Physics. The successful candidate is expected to be involved into a research at the crossroad of the Random Matrix Theory, Quantum Chaotic Systems, and the Theory of Integrable Hierarchies. A Research Fellow is to be appointed at Birmingham, to start by October 2009, on my EPSRC project to apply techniques of geometric logic to the topos approaches to quantum theory (Isham and Doering at Imperial, Landsman's group at Nijmegen).

HP Labs - Post-Doctoral Researcher in Experimental QKD

The Quantum Information Processing (QIP) Group is based in HP Labs Bristol UK, and is part of the Information and Quantum Systems Laboratory (IQSL). The QIP group is seeking applicants for a fixed-term research appointment for two years, to work on the next stages of the implementation of "consumer quantum key distribution", HP's most advanced quantum information technology. The appointee will carry out research and development on short-range, free-space QKD for consumer applications.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates who have a strong research background in theoretical quantum optics, quantum information theory and/or condensed matter theory. The research to be undertaken will be in the interface of quantum optics and QIP with emphasis in the simulation of quantum many body effects. More specifically among others we would like to study how efficiently coupled cavity arrays, where each cavity is strongly interacting with atoms, can simulate quantum many-body effects usually occuring in condensed matter systems.
