Head of Quantum DTU Center

DTU, Technical University of Denmark is seeking a dedicated person to head our cross disciplinary Quantum DTU center.
DTU has considerable activities with quantum technologies reaching from leading edge research on quantum based communication, quantum computing over quantum based sensors and fabrication of quantum devices.
The growing activity together with an increasing interest in this technology is clearly manifested through an EU Quantum Flagship and a newly established NATO Quantum Center located in Copenhagen. In addition quantum technology has being pointed out as a future technology for computer chips in the EU Chip Act. This has prompted a wish to attract a strong profile to coordinate, develop, and represent DTU interests and efforts in this important emerging field.
We are seeking a Head of Quantum DTU with excellent networking and communication skills and proven track record regarding project management.
An educational background with a degree in the natural or technical sciences is a distinct advantage.
The Quantum DTU center is anchored at DTU Nanolab, the National Center for Nano Fabrication and Characterization. The Center refers to a steering group headed by DTU’s Provost including the director of DTU Nanolab and head of departments from DTU Compute, DTU Electro, DTU Chemistry, and DTU Physics. The Head of Quantum DTU will refer to the director of DTU Nanolab.
Primary areas of responsibility
- Support strategic initiatives across DTU’s many quantum activities
- Represent DTU’s quantum technology research
- Coordinate quantum related research, education, and innovation between departments
- Facilitate cross departmental research collaboration and funding applications
- Communicate DTU’s quantum related research, education and innovation internally and to stakeholders, including the political level
- Coordinate and facilitate DTU’s projects within the EU quantum flagship and the EU Chips Act
- Represent DTU and coordinate efforts with relation to the NATO quantum center
- Represent DTU and coordinate efforts with relation to the NNF quantum research center
- Take active part within DQC (Danish Quantum Community)
- Establish a quantum hub at DTU as part of a network with other Danish universities and/or DTU partner universities around quantum technology
Salary and appointment terms
Salary and appointment terms are in accordance with either the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).
The position is permanent and full-time (37 hours per week). Starting date as soon as possible (according to mutual agreement).
The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
