The conference Towards Ultimate Quantum Theory (UQT) is arranged by International Centre for Mathematical Modelling in physics, engineering and cognitive sciences (ICMM) at Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden. This is the 19th Växjö conference devoted to quantum foundations and applications of quantum theory, especially quantum information and probability. It is devoted to quantum foundations (including philosophical issues), experiment, and recently developed quantum technologies (with emphasize of their foundational aspects).

PhD/PostDoc Positions

Single atoms coupled to high-finesse optical cavities allow us to study light-matter interactions in the quantum regime. Full control over atoms and photons makes them ideal prototypes for quantum information science. Your thesis work will involve many aspects of quantum optics and quantum information processing: quantum networks, quantum memories, remote entanglement, quantum state transfer, quantized light fields, optical resonators, laser cooling and trapping of atoms.

We aim to bring together the top researchers in Circuit QED, Electro/Optomechanics and hybrids systems to present both theoretical and experimental aspects, with a strong emphasis on the most cutting-edge experimental progress. Every attendant is invited to present a poster and a few outstanding abstracts will be selected for hot topic focus talks. We hope to create an interactive platform for the exchange of new ideas and we would like to inspire a conference series on the topic.
We look forward to welcoming you at IST.

A significant effort is currently being deployed by CEA-LETI and its partners, aimed at providing a layout and integration scheme for CMOS-based silicon qubits in view of a large-scale integration. In this context, a 2-year postdoctoral position is currently available in quantum error correction protocols, with applications to fault-tolerant quantum computing. The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity for high-quality research and relevant experience in quantum information theory and quantum error correction.

A fully-funded PhD position is available at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, to conduct forefront theoretical research in the quantum information sciences, working with Dr Peter Rohde within the Centre for Quantum Software & Information (QSI).

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented Ph.D. student willing to join the international team undertaking a new, 3-year "First Team" research project entitled Integrated optics in time-frequency domain: a new versatile platform for quantum technologies, funded by the Foundation for Polish Science. The international project aims at research in the field of theoretical condensed matter as well as theoretical and experimental quantum optics.

A postdoctoral position for a highly qualified person completing his or her PhD in 2018 will be available starting in September. See the project at:
