A 2-year postdoctoral position in Quantum Information Science is opening in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of British Columbia in Spring 2011, in the group of Dr. Robert Raussendorf. We anticipate having an opening for a postdoctoral position in the research group of Prof. Mark Byrd within the next two or three months. Applications will be reviewed beginning December 1, 2010 and will continue until the position is filled. The position is for research in quantum error prevention methods. The applicant should have some knowledge of quantum error correcting codes and fault-tolerant quantum computing. The Institute for Quantum Computing is inviting applications for postdoctoral positions in all aspects of quantum information processing, bridging areas from fundamental theory to physical implementations.

Applications are sought for a PhD studentship in condensed matter theory funded by the SEPnet collaboration. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. J. Quintanilla at the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL). There will be opportunities to collaborate with experimentalists working on these subjects at RAL’s ISIS neutron and muon source and with other theorists in the SEPnet collaboration.
