The Department of Mathematics at the University of York is seeking a talented new colleague to join our thriving Mathematical Physics and Quantum Information group. You will be engaging in high-level research combining mathematics and quantum technologies and have the capacity to obtain funding for your research, form interdisciplinary collaborations and engage with industry. You will be a dedicated and effective teacher of mathematics, able to teach a range of courses in applied mathematics and to supervise PhD and MSc projects.
Applications are invited for a PhD position in theoretical quantum information and computation, working with Shashank Virmani at Brunel University London Mathematics department, in the UK. Deadline 26 May.
It is currently anticipated that the PhD will be on the theme of classical simulation of quantum systems, but this may evolve during the project if the student so wishes.
Both UK and overseas applicants are welcome to apply, although funding may be more competitive for non UK citizens.
Dates:
Tuesday, September 5, 2023 to Friday, September 8, 2023
Some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half years, the CEQIP passed out of all knowledge...
But now it is now back as CEQIP |202⟩|++⟩ to cover all years it was forgotten.

The research groups of Profs. Thierry Bastin and John Martin are offering a new joint theoretical postdoctoral position in the field of quantum entanglement. The research project is encompassed in a large national effort aiming to prepare Belgium for the new era of quantum technologies via the Excellence Of Science (EOS) grant “Creating Highly Entangled Quantum States in the NISQ era” (CHEQS). This is the second postdoctoral position to be filled in this framework.
Your Mission
We offer a full-time or part-time position in the Physical Foundations of IT Security team within the Terahertz and Laser Spectroscopy Department in the DLR Institute of Optical Sensor Systems. Our research interest is the realization of physical model systems for photonic and quantum information processing. This includes quantum light sources and quantum memories for repeater-based quantum communication and optical quantum computing, but also optical neuromorphic computing architectures for artificial intelligence.

Are you a mathematician? Or a computer scientist or quantum physics? Would you like to work on creating new quantum algorithms? Knowledge on quantum mechanics is not necessary! Instead, we will build on group theory and discrete mathematics. Quantum algorithms implement mathematical transforms using quantum bits over certain groups. This is like designing an algorithm for parallel computing.
