We announce the opening of two PhD positions in non-equilibrium many-body theory in the Institute of Physics at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz to work in the group of Jun. Prof. Dr. J. Marino (https://sites.google.com/site/jamirmarino/).

The PhD student will be an integral part of a new team of researchers covering a broad range of topics including quantum statistical physics, condensed-matter theory, and quantum many-body optics in far-from-equilibrium conditions.

The Hannover Centre for Optical Technologies (HOT) invites applications for the position of a

Research Assistant (PhD position) – Photonic networks for quantum machine learning
(Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 75 %)

starting the next possible date. This fixed-term post is initially available until 31.12.2021 and extendable. The position provides the opportunity of further academic qualification.

Efficient atom photon interfaces are the basis for quantum computers, fibre networks or miniaturised quantum sensors. Photons are ideal systems to create entangled states or to carry quantum information, while atoms are well suited for information storage or to mediate interactions between photons.

A PhD scholarship is available for the right candidate, working on Nanoscale Nonlinear Optics at the University of Technology, Sydney. The project involves the design, fabrication and experimental characterisation of smaller-than-wavelength optical resonators and 2D-material based photonic devices to enable efficient wavelength conversion.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The project includes the design, fabrication and experimental characterisation of solid-state single-photon emitters integrated with photonic circuits to create a scalable high-performance platform for quantum optical signal processing.
